How to Have the Wedding of Your Dreams While Keeping Your Bridesmaids Happy

As the bride, you probably have expectations about what you want your big day to be like – casual or elegant, bright colors or soft pastels, in a lovely outdoor setting or inside an aged cathedral – and ultimately the choice is yours! We have the idea the wedding day is mostly for the bride, and it very well may be.

However, that doesn’t give you authority to boss people around and make them cater to your every whim. Wouldn’t you prefer to have a fun time bonding with your attendants during the planning stages?

Here are four ways to have the wedding of your dreams without losing friends.

Rental Bridesmaid Dresses – You may think you have selected a beautiful dress the bridesmaids will wear again after the wedding, but will they really? Let them decide. Little Borrowed Dresses gives your attendants the option of buying or renting their dresses.

This may feel like a risky move, but they will send a fabric swatch ahead of time for you to see. Plus, they will send a second dress in a backup size just in case the designated size doesn’t fit. Brilliant!

Gift They Can Reuse – Bridesmaids really want meaningful gifts they can actually use. This travel train case fits the bill – it can be personalized for each lady and is great for them to carry their makeup and accessories to the wedding.

If you have a specific nail polish color, lip color or hair adornments you request your attendants wear, you could include them in this fun case as their gift. Be sure to include other necessities, like mints, a bottle of water, and maybe an on-the-spot stain remover.

Cut them Some Slack – Here’s a life lesson: Things won’t always go your way. So just relax and relish your special time of being a bride.

Bridesmaids typically get to plan the bridal showers and bachelorette party. While you can certainly make suggestions for what you would like (like maybe pin ideas to your wedding Pinterest boards), it isn’t for you to dictate.

They may not be able to afford jetting off to Las Vegas for a bachelorette weekend. They may not have the resources to use formal china for your tea party

Let them plan, then relax and enjoy graciously.

Give them a Schedule – Bridal showers, bachelorette parties, the rehearsal dinner, dress fittings….a bridesmaid is investing lots of time in addition to just the ceremony day. Provide the dates and times as far in advance as possible.

You can even go the extra mile and give them a planner with the dates and times filled in.

You will be a bride for a short time, but a friend for life. Go ahead and have the wedding of your dreams; just remember there are others involved in making your day perfect.
