Have a Wine and Cheese Reception

If you are having your wedding at a vineyard, or are wine and cheese enthusiasts, a wine and cheese reception is a classy alternative that can be made as fancy or casual as you want.
Saying “cheese” doesn’t have to be limited to your photos; you can go all out and make cheese and wine the foundation of your reception.

Here are four ways to incorporate wine and cheese into your wedding reception.

Wine Bottle Centerpiece – These beautiful candle shades are made from recycled wine bottles with the bottoms cut off. The wine bottles make a great way to protect the flame while also the bottle opening acts as a vent.

The various bottle heights and glass color keep the centerpiece interesting.

You can find retailers online, or if you are daring enough to try, search the internet for tutorials about how to make these cut wine bottles. Be sure to save the wine bottles from any wedding showers or engagement parties to get a head start collecting bottles.

Wine and cheese pairings – If you will be serving a meal at your reception, a wine and cheese hors devours course is an appropriate way to showcase your love for wine and cheese.

This lovely cheese presentation has clear markers for the names of the cheese, allowing guests to know what they are trying.

Also, you’ll see some grapes and fruit included, which are common additions to a cheese plate. Your caterer should be able to recommend great pairings cheese, fruit and wine.

Cheese “Cake” – For those who are huge cheese fans, or are looking for something different, cheese “cakes” are popping up as a trend. Rather than a sweet baked cake, rounds of cheese are stacked to look like a wedding cake.

Looking at some of the pictures, they can be just as beautiful, especially if you are going for a rustic or farmhouse look.

This cheese presentation would be ideal for the bride and groom who are not serving a meal. Or if you like the idea, but still want a traditional wedding cake, do both!

Cheese Board Favor – What a perfect wedding favor for your wine and cheese wedding – a heart shaped bamboo cheese board. A cheese spreader with a sweet heart on the handle is included.

Your guests will be reminded of your terrific wedding day each time they use the cheese board.

TIP: Of course by now you know the wedding adage “Something old, something new, something borrowed something blue.”

Cheese experts recommend including cheeses in a similar way, and suggest you include “something old, something new, something stinky, something bleu.”

But since it is your wedding day, we recommend including cheeses and wines you like – no rules, just share your favorites with your special guests.
